Deep Yellow Urine
بقول ابن سینا: اصفر اشقر
According to the Modern Medicine
This is usually normal and many times the color may be due to certain medicines, supplements, or vitamin pills. If however, you are not taking any of these medications, you might have low water intake. When you do not drink enough water, dehydration can develop in half a day or in hot weather, in a couple of hours.
If the deep yellow color of urine is only due to dehydration then after drinking a sufficient amount of water, the dark yellow color should disappear within several hours to one day.
Other causes of Deep Yellow Urine are…..
Liver diseases
“A liver disease, such as hepatitis or cirrhosis, pancreatitis or a gallstone that blocks the flow of the bile into the intestine (cholestasis) can result in a leakage of bilirubin into the blood, skin (jaundice) and urine, which will appear dark yellow and foamy; the stools will be typically pale in such conditions”.
Increased excretion of uric acid (hyperuricosuria)
“An increased excretion of uric acid (urates) in acute kidney failure, lymphoma, leukemia, hemolytic anemia, chemotherapy (tumor lysis syndrome) and certain genetic disorders can result in dark yellow urine”.
What to do?
The important thing is to think about your diet and ask yourself the following questions.
Have I eaten any foods that might change my urine color?
Am I drinking enough water?
“If you are drinking enough water, but you still have dark yellow urine color, then it may be food-based. Beets also cause a dark yellow urine color. Asparagus makes your urine darker yellow and it creates a strong odor”.
Again, when in doubt, please consult your Physician.
