Green Color Urine
بقول ابن سینا: اخضر فستقی،اخضرزنجاری،اخضر کراثی
According to the Modern Medicine
Well, the good news is that “green color urine is most likely caused by foods have been eaten or the medications taken. But that doesn’t mean green urine is not a by-product of a disease, most of the time it is more likely to come from something have been ingested a few hours ago. One thing more, the causes of blue urine discoloration can also produce a green urine hue when combined with the yellow color urochrome”.
Medical conditions:“Green urine sometimes occurs during urinary tract infections caused by Pseudomonas bacteria or obstructive jaundice. Other medical conditions are blue diaper syndrome, hartnup disease, meconium aspiration syndrome, methemoglobinemia, obstructive jaundice, and typhoid.”
Occasionally the urinary tract infection with Pseudomonas species has been observed to produce a green hue in urine. Metabolic conditions that cause blue urine discoloration can also result in urine appearing green.
Additionally, “fistulas into the urinary tract that facilitate the passage of bile into the urine stream permit its green pigment to stain the urine”.
During research, I found a case report of a pesticide “Tetrahydronaphthalene (which was used once as an over the counter treatment of lice) and ingestion of the herbicides Mefenaceta and Imazosulfuro turns urine green”.
Another case has been reported on enterovesical fistula as a complication of pelvic radiation therapy may produce green urine. Bile and diarrhea can cause a greenish tint to urine, and pus from a urinary tract infection could also cause green urine.
So “while the urine itself may not be green, something might mix in with the urine and be making it green. If you don’t have any medical condition producing more bile or diarrhea, and you don’t have a urinary tract infection, then your green urine is most likely related to something you have taken into your body as food. Still, when in doubt… consult with your Physician”.
Here are the classic 5 shades of green urine found in Cannon of Medicine. Pistachios Green (Fastaghi ) Sky Green (Asmanjuni) Emerald Green (Nilji) Leek Green (Korrasi) and Verdigris Green (Zanjari).
