Pink, Red Color Urine
بقول ابن سینا: احمر وردی،احمر قانی،احمر اقتم و جُمری
According to the Modern Medicine
According to the contemporary medicine, the most common cause of red urine color can be hematuria. blood in urine is a serious matter and may be a symptom of a severe medical issue related to kidney, prostate or bladder.
Infections: “Influenza (fever, headache, fatigue), HIV/AIDS, infectious mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus (headache, fever, rash, enlarged lymph nodes), cytomegalovirus infection, herpes genitalis (burning blisters on genitals), shingles (band-shaped rash), food poisoning with diarrhea (Shigella, E.coli) and dengue fever.”
Muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis): “Muscle breakdown with the presence of myoglobin (a muscle protein) in the urine can turn its color into red. It could be after distance running such as marathon or triathlon, prolonged immobilization, compression of the limb due to prolonged lying after severe alcohol intoxication, muscle tremor, seizures or severe trauma.”
Note: “Hemoglobinuria, hematuria and myoglobinuria all cause red urine and easy way to differentiation is that in hemoglobinuria and myoglobinuria the urine appears more translucent and in hematuria the RBCs in the urine cause urine to be little cloudy.”
Porphyria: “It is a genetic disease with an impaired production of hemoglobin can cause dark red, brown urine.”
Poisons: “Acute poisoning with cyanide, ethanol, ethylene glycol, iodine, isopropanol, methanol, phenol or chronic poisoning with copper, lead, mercury can cause red or black urine.”
Note: “Red urine can be a scary sight, since it may indicate that there is blood in your urine. That being said, don’t freak out. You just need to pay attention to any recent changes in your diet and overall feeling of health. Ask yourself these important questions when you notice a red urine color.”
Have I difficulty urinating?
What have I eaten or drunk lately?
How long have I noticed a red urine color?
Is red or pink urine color accompanied by other symptoms such as painful urination?
Note: “Red urine accompanied by painful urination can be a sign of blood in urine or hematuria. As you can guess, if you don’t think the red urine color is caused by the food you’ve eaten, especially if you notice the red urine color frequently, then stop pondering life and go consult your Physician immediately.””
